Conclusions and Relevance The banking sector of the Arkhangelsk Oblast can have higher lending capacity if banks undertake intensive efforts to attract individuals' deposits. The lending capacity influences the size of credit portfolio allowing for profitability of lending activities and timely aid to borrowers provided that loans are repaid. During the economic recession, the development of available resources (lending capacity) of the banking system shapes the development of the regional economy.
