The article analyzes modern interpretation of the concept of the combat effectiveness of the domestic military-economic literature. The proposed interpretation of the concept of the combat efficiency will allow to create economic tools in the area of military construction, adequate, with the country's market mechanism, will open the way to the market mechanism of pricing in the sphere of military construction, and in terms of the upcoming growth of defense spending significantly reduce the influence of this factor on economic growth of the country.
