Subject. Investment credit in the context of financing economic transformation.
Objectives. Overcoming the dialectical contradiction between the purpose and potential of investment credit and its highly limited realization. Without resolving this contradiction, the available sources of long?term financing narrow and, as a consequence, economic growth declines.
Methods. General scientific methods were employed.
Results. The scientific understanding of credit as a promising source of investment financing has been expanded; its underestimation has been statistically confirmed; and the expediency of introducing the concept of "investment credit potential" into academic discourse has been substantiated.
Conclusions. A direction for realizing the potential of investment credit in Russia is proposed from the perspective of stimulating demand among economic agents.

Keywords: credit, investments, fixed assets, economic transformation, investment credit potential
