Subject. Financial and economic security of the region as a key factor of sustainable socio?economic development of Russia. Objectives. A comprehensive analysis of the financial and economic security of the Ulyanovsk Oblast based on the indicator method, which makes it possible to quantitatively assess the current state of the regional economy, determine the degree of its resilience to internal and external threats, and identify key structural imbalances that constrain development. Methods. The study employs an indicator?based approach, statistical and comparative methods, normalization of indicators, calculation of an integral security index, and identification of strengths and weaknesses. The information sources include official statistics, data from regional authorities, investment portfolios, and publications in the relevant literature. Results. An adaptation of the system of indicators for financial and economic security has been proposed, tailored to the specific characteristics of the Ulyanovsk Oblast. Emphasis has been placed on regional specifics, which enabled a more accurate assessment of the security situation. An integral indicator of the region’s financial and economic security has been developed, based on a combination of several groups of indicators. Conclusions. The financial and economic security of the Ulyanovsk Oblast is assessed as moderate. To enhance it, it is necessary to diversify the economy, strengthen the budget, support small and medium?sized enterprises and innovation, develop human capital, and implement institutional measures (civil society, social programmes, infrastructure projects).
