Subject. Investment projects as the main tool for updating the production and technological base, materializing the innovation cycle, entering new markets, and ensuring the competitiveness of a high?tech enterprise in the market in the long term. Objectives. To develop theoretical provisions and substantiate the place and role of investment project management in the management system of a high?tech enterprise. Methods. The theories of investment, strategic management, project management, and the concept of enterprise development management were used. General scientific and specialized methods of cognition were applied, including analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, as well as systemic and structural-functional approaches. Results. The category “investment project” has been clarified as a complex of marketing, technological, design, organizational, financial, and managerial decisions being made. The place and role of investment project management in the management system of a high?tech enterprise, as well as its direct connection with the enterprise’s innovation cycle, have been substantiated. Conclusions and Relevance. It has been shown that investment project management is a structurally and functionally defined element of the management system that links strategic development management and project management. The management system developed by the author, focused on the full life cycle of the project, serves as the basis for unifying management procedures and improving the efficiency of implementing portfolios of knowledge?intensive projects at high?tech enterprises. The results can be used in developing methodological approaches to managing investment projects in high?tech industrial sectors, as well as in scientific research devoted to this issue.
