Subject. Digitalization of financial management in public institutions: methodology and practice of planning the financial and economic activities of budgetary and autonomous institutions in a Russian region, with a focus on information-analytical and software support. Objectives. To identify shortcomings in platform solutions for automating the financial and economic processes of budgetary and autonomous institutions in a Russian region. To determine trends in the development of digitalization of financial management. Methods. General scientific research methods were employed. The empirical base was formed using data from regional authorities and their subordinate institutions relevant to the research topic. Results. An original approach to modernizing the automated information system has been developed. Implementing the proposed approach enables a shift from fragmented management of budgetary data to an integrated one, minimizes manual operations, and ensures consistency of information at all stages of the budgetary process. Conclusions and Relevance. The original approach to modernizing the automated information system provides a foundation for improving the quality of financial planning and enhancing the efficiency of managerial decision-making. The proposed approach can be used by regional authorities in Russia to regulate the financial and economic activities of budgetary and autonomous institutions.
