Subject. Features of the Russian institutional environment.
Objectives. To identify and analyze the specifics of Russians’ socioeconomic practices under global changes (including in the context of a socioeconomic crisis).
Methods. Methods of systems analysis and comparative analysis were applied. Data from Russian sociological studies conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM), the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), Russian companies (MTS Bank, YooMoney, Sberbank, VK), and mass media were used.
Results. The specifics of Russian society and the Russian institutional environment were defined through the lens of systems theory. The main socioeconomic trends in Russian society were identified, including the features of Russians’ adaptive social and economic practices during the crisis.
Scope of Application. The findings can be used in developing a Russian mobilization-based economic model; in forecasting Russians’ socioeconomic behavior under global changes (considering possible economic risks to the social system); and in designing educational courses in economic theory and economic sociology.
Conclusions. A systems approach allows predicting the forms and types of socioeconomic behavior of economic actors under global changes, shaped by the geopolitical, climatic, geographical, and cultural specifics of Russian society. Analyzing the socioeconomic adaptability of economic actors enables a more detailed examination of the features of the institutional environment in Russian society.
