Subject. The article addresses processes of FinTech transformation of the banking sector of the Russian Federation in the context of formation of technological sovereignty and import substitution of digital solutions.
Objectives. The aim is to assess the impact of technological sovereignty on the digital transformation strategy of banks, identify institutional and regulatory barriers, and define mechanisms for adaptation of market participants to the new conditions.
Methods. The study employs general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, methods of the systems and comparative approach. It rests on generalization of theoretical approaches and empirical data contained in scientific publications of Russian and foreign researchers and analytical materials of financial institutions.
Results. We considered the features of FinTech transformation of the banking sector of the Russian Federation in the context of aggravated challenges to technological sovereignty. Based on the analysis of strategic initiatives of the Bank of Russia and the practices of the largest banks, we underpinned the concept of sustainable digital infrastructure capable of functioning independently of foreign suppliers. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of key infrastructure projects as elements of institutional support for sovereignty. Furthermore, we analyzed import substitution measures in the IT contour of the largest banks, identified barriers and risks accompanying digital transformation.
Conclusions. The Russian banking sector has demonstrated a high degree of adaptability, forming a resilient model of digital growth in the face of external pressure.
