Subject. The article investigates the market of the main developers and manufacturers of chips at the present moment and in dynamics over the past decade. Objectives. The study aims at analyzing the world market of chip manufacturing to identify development patterns that are primarily needed by new players (Russia, India, etc.). Methods. The study employs general scientific methods of analysis based on data from open reports of international organizations, analytical agencies, and leading companies. Results. Our analysis showed significant differences in the size and dynamics of revenue of semiconductor manufacturing companies in various market segments. Only Nvidia, TSMC, and European IDM companies showed stable revenue growth. Conclusions. The chip market is dependent on end-user orders. Differences in revenue dynamics are due to the presence of advanced manufacturing lines and orders from end consumers. Economic and political risks of production chains disruption force developed countries to look for opportunities to build a closed infrastructure for chip manufacturing within their own country or friendly countries.
