Subject. The article deals with the current problem of transforming controls in a changing control paradigm. At the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, with the advent of the concept of "emotional intelligence" in scientific terminology, interest in research in the field of the emotional component of management increased significantly. Affecting the business processes of the enterprise, the personnel management, broadly interpreted as personnel career management, rests on human relations, which increases the importance of emotional intelligence in matters of labor management. Objectives. The primary target is theoretical justification, analysis of existing approaches to the subject area under study. Furthermore, the study solves the problems of assessing emotional intelligence in managerial practice, comparing management styles, underpinning the mechanisms for managerial competence formation. Methods. A review of secondary research data reveals a rather scarce methodological toolkit for the study of emotional intelligence and its impact on manageability, socio-psychological climate, effectiveness of the work team. Results. The results of the study are mainly theoretical. Nevertheless, certain provisions set forth in the article may be applicable in practical activities to form the necessary skills of the manager. The most important goal of theoretical research in this subject area is systematization and generalization in interpretation of basic concepts. In the applied sense, it is the development of recommendations for improving management decisions. Conclusions. The content of the selected topic shows the multidisciplinary essence, synthesizing methods of psychology, sociology, management.
