Subject This article examines the factors that contributed to the emergence of varieties of electronic payment instruments and considers their types' evolution. It highlights the distinctive features of some electronic payment instruments and indicates their general characteristics and relationships.
Objectives The article aims to analyze the development, current state and prospects of development of electronic payment facilities.
Methods For the study, we used methods of analysis and the comparative historical method. Scientific works of domestic and foreign researchers and specialists on the theory and practice of non-cash payments are the methodological and theoretical basis of the study.
Relevance The results of the research on the development aspects of electronic payment facilities can be useful for improving the national payment system of Russia. The theoretical conclusions can be used in further developments of the investigated problem, as well as for educational purposes.
