Importance The article discusses the money denominations for cash turnover in Russia.
Objectives The paper aims to cover the issues of banknote series formation of the Bank of Russia that could ease cash settlements and reduce the expenses of the Central Bank on cash turnover.
Methods The main research methods are formal logic, systems approach and the analysis of statistical data.
Results The article examines the evolution of banknote series of the Bank of Russia, statistical data, the cash structure, banknote and monetary series of main foreign currencies. The paper shows potential saving types with the introduction of a derivative banknote of only one nominal or others.
Conclusions and Relevance In Russia, there is an acute need for introduction of nominative banknote derivatives within the range from 100 to 500 RUB and from 1000 to 5000 RUB into circulation. According to my calculations, introduction of only one of the derivatives will lead to 16% saving, while introduction of two notes will help to save 20% of charges. Regardless of nominal value, the cost saving value remains the same.
