Importance The volume and structure of agricultural production are important factors determining the ability to create a competitive business environment for agricultural producers. A solution to this problem, which is integrated into the system of optimal control over the agricultural sector, is possible only on the basis of an objective and comprehensive analysis. Objectives The aim of the study is to identify and characterize regional specificities of agricultural production based on statistical analysis results. Methods Using the methods of statistical analysis, we studied the dynamics and structure of the agricultural production of the Tambov region, assessed the dependence of the volume of agricultural production on the size of major types of resources, and performed a statistical modeling and forecasting of agricultural production's volumes at the regional level. Results We assessed the adaptive capacities of agriculture in the region, identified institutional and industry-specific features of the agricultural sector development in the region, characterized the effect of the size of various types of resources on the volume of agricultural production, and emphasized a positive effect of expanding the scale of operations. Another result of the study was a statistical forecasting of the agricultural production at the regional level. Conclusions and Relevance The ideas and recommendations of the study correspond with modern information requirements of the Tambov region's economy and improve the analytical system of financial and economic functions of agricultural organizations.
