Methodical approaches to determining the structure of innovative capacity of an organization

Importance The article points out that at present, the search for techniques and approaches to innovation activity that correspond to the modern trends of the nascent sixth technological mode assumes its relevance. A major problem is transformation of market and business activity in the new environment. The most important issues are identification and exploitation of innovative potential of an organization, which will enhance its competitiveness.
     Objectives We emphasize that new understanding of the innovative capacity implication of an organization, as well as building approaches to its evaluation become particularly important. Therefore, it is necessary to address the following objectives: to determine the structure of innovation, to describe the elements of innovative capacities of an organization, to develop key indicators for assessing its innovation potential.
     Methods To determine the structure of innovation, we used the historical and logical method enabling to track the formation of the essence of the described economic category. The paper provides a technique to assess innovative capacity of an organization, which is defined as part of an integrated approach, and which encompasses various indicators of innovation capacity into a single system. The methodology takes into account the financial aspect of innovation activity of an organization in its entirety. We identified general structure of innovation, which includes three essential aspects: technological, inventive, and commercial. The paper develops the concept of innovation capacity of an organization with a detailed description of its content, and also describes the significance of financial capacity and the need for its immediate use while organizing innovation activities of an enterprise.
     Results The article offers a system of indicators for a small enterprise, which enables to make a comprehensive evaluation of its innovation capacity.
     Conclusions and Relevance We make a general conclusion about practical significance of the proposed concept and approach to understanding the structure of an organization's innovative potential. The paper proves the need for applying contemporary and flexible methods of its evaluation, which, in total, will result in benefits for all innovation-driven entities.
