The article presents the analysis of key positive and negative sides of the methods of assessment of efficiency of innovative projects applying for receiving grant financing in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The authors specify the definition of the concept "grant" corresponding to modern problems of development of the Russian economy and consider shortcomings of the criteria for evaluation of projects eligible for grant funding. The paper offers new criteria of assessment of innovative projects.
