In the article the volume, structure and dynamics of expenses of the consolidated budget of the Russian Federation on social policy are analyzed, the outlined tendencies are disclosed. Ways of optimization of structure of the budgetary expenses on social support of citizens and the direction of increase of their efficiency are offered.
