The results of calculation of an index of the oil companies of the St. Petersburg stock exchange are presented in article for 1878-1896 are presented. The specifics of the data to a non-trivial calculation method: some data should be restored artificially. As a result, information was obtained on the index of oil companies in Russia is one of the most important periods in the development of the national oil industry.
