Comparative analysis of funds profitability of target capital in Russia and the USA

Endowment funds development is one of the promising mechanisms of financing activities of noncommercial sector. Endowment funds are created with the objectives of investing resources in income generating assets and spending investment income by noncommercial organization on its programs and projects. This work represents a research of educational organizations' endowment funds' return in Russia, where endowment funds are created based on special federal statutory act, and the USA. Factor analysis is used to evaluate and investigate reasons for return difference; conclusion is made regarding the need to expand the list of allowed investment instruments in order for investment income to become a more valuable source of finance for noncommercial organizations.
