In the article the issues of money origin, their role in formation and development of the market economy are considered. The known approaches in the economic literature are compared with author's approach, in which the center - value of money as the standard form of wealth eliminating influence of distinctions in degree of liquidity and costs of the maintenance of the economic benefits on the processes of market pricing. Communication between the concepts of money origin and the problems of modern banking system is presented. Some measures that can ensure the absolute safety of the value of cash deposits at relatively cheap bank credits are offered.
