In the article some problems of modern monetary policy are considered. Assessment of the situation in the Russian monetary market is carried out. Criteria of an assessment of efficiency of activity of the central bank in the field of a monetary policy are given. The directions of improvement of monetary policy for achievement of the purposes of modernization of economy are defined.
