In the article the conditions and features of economic development of the separate European countries in the second half of the XIX century are considered. The analysis of two models of capitalism development of the period of free competition is carried out: revolutionary (England, France) and reformist (Germany). Special attention is paid to the state of the financial and banking systems of Britain, France and Germany.
