The problem of Russian enterprises’ financial performance improvement through introduction of new financial management techniques are considered in the article. The analysis of current practices of reliable assessment of a company’s financial standing is provided and the ways of foreign methods’ adjustment to the specific conditions of Russian economy are suggested. The authors investigate a notion of «financial potential of an enterprise», provide a classification of financial sources and identify stages of assessment of financial potential’s levels.
