In the article it is noted that one of the main reasons for the last failures of the Russian astronautics is insufficient financing of basic and applied scientific researches. The high risks inherent in this kind of activity, constrain inflow of the capital to the branch enterprises. Therefore insurance can become a basic element of stimulation of innovations and protection of investments into this sphere. Priority types of space insurance are defined and it is offered to create institute of the licensed insurance brokers in Russian Federal Space Agency structure.
