The article investigates the current issues of modernization of the banking system in Russia during the post-crisis development economics. The modern state of bank sector is analyzed, the problem questions is demanded which to require in the prompt decision. The main objectives of modernization, the condition of its success has been studied, stages and more priority is allocated. The process of improving the structure of the banking sector on the basis of institutional development was investigated.
