The article looks at the analysis of the specificity of private banking industry: private banking is examined as a historical category, the main stages of development of the industry as well as significant changes in connection with the global financial crisis are marked out. The main trends that affect private banks around the world in new economic conditions are analyzed. The conclusion concerning fundamental characteristics of private banking is made on basis of the analysis.
