The given article looks at the role of early 1800s Russian scientist K.I. Arseniev in Russian financial thought. It is proved that his contribution to the development of financial activity and science is based on his historical, geographic and statistic works. They contain a great number of theoretical and practical aspects of finances, which makes K.I Arseniev’s works a basis for the development of such areas of financial thought as theory, history, statistics of finances, as well as regional finance.
