Money and money circulation in the Age of Catherine II

The article describes about the specifics of the money and money circulation in the second half of the XVIII century in Russia. The coins of different denominations was uncomfortable for circulation. The bank-not appeared first-born in Russia in the Age of Catherine the Great. The bank-not became part of the daily life of the majority of Russia’s population during this period. The present publication examines the history of the formation of the bank-not market from the first issues in 1762 to the 1794 years reveals its dynamics and structure, describes the corresponding legal base and state regulation, shows the mechanism of emission.
