The author describes core goals and functions of the central counterparty. He presents detailed picture of main directions of activity of the CCP which designed to operated as a reliable go-between for buyers and sellers - participants of transactions in the financial market. It is emphasized that CCP plays the centerpiece role in the financial market because it takes risks occurring during participants’ transactions as well as secures implementation of their obligations. The author comes to the conclusion that CCP through its activity ultimately contributes greatly to the growth of the financial market efficiency.
