In presented article the basic functions of financial intermediaries are considered in the ratio with their influence on investment potential of economic system. Classification of types of financial intermediaries by character of influence on investment potential is resulted. Authors develop system of indicators of level of financial intermediary on terms of placing and types of institutes. On this basis conclusions about a condition and prospects of development of financial intermediary in Russia are formulated
