The nature and functions of the market of term financial instruments

The article examines a topical issue concerning nature and functions of the most important segment of financial market that hasn’t yet been unambiguously defined in economic literature: the market of term financial instruments. The study discloses the nature of the named market, characterizes its structure, substantiates its distinction from the market of derived financial instruments and the market of derivatives. It also highlights two new functions for the market of term financial instruments, like stimulating the development of innovative financial instruments and boosting the attractiveness of the financial market as whole.
