Y.A. Gagemeister’s impact on Russian financial science

The financial science of the twentieth century is superficially familiar with Y.A. Gagemeister’s figure. In modern financial literature, his name is occasionally referred to in connection with the period of financial knowledge formation in Russia without going into much detail about his contribution to the science. Y.A. Gagemeister’s works are often thought as no more significant. The aim of the actual research was to point out and state Y.A. Gagemeister’s impact on Russian financial science. The research showed that Y.A. Gagemeister’s role sums up to the following: he was the one to introduce the word “finance” in research as well as pioneer the investigation of various financial aspects, such as Russian finance, the history of Russian finance, Russian financial research. He started developing different branches of financial science prior to the appearance of Russian financial science as such.
