The article assesses theoretical and applied aspects of building the rating evaluations of the investment potential at the meso-level, performs the comparison of ratings and rankings. It provides the stage-by-stage description of the process of building the region’s investment potential rating, using quantitative information. As an alternative, it offers to build ratings using mathematical and statistical methods, in particular, the cluster analysis.
