Major development problems of the structured products market in the Russian law and some recommendations for their solution

The article highlights major problems in the Russian legislation, halting the development of the structured products market, and considering the basic concepts of the derivative financial instruments market, being an integral part of the structured product market. The analysis of legal norms has demonstrated that corresponding concepts do not provide single-valued definitions necessary for solving the most pressing issues. Attention has also been paid to the most important disadvantages of the tax law, because it also is one of the factors hampering the development of the derivatives market, meaning the structured products market as well. To conclude, some recommendations are provided, aimed at improving the position of derivative financial instruments at the market.
