The article assesses the activities of the merchant and trade associations in the second half of the 18 century, in particular, the organization of the Russian fur animals trapping in the northern part of the Pacific Ocean, the beginning of cooperation of I.L. Golikov and G.I. Shelikhov, conclusion of treaties between companions (1791-1794) and their way to monopolies. The major spotlight is put on the foundation of the Russian-American Company (1797-1799), its financial position and development perspectives.
