Major analysis principles of the banking operations by the international rating agency STANDARD&POORS

This article is devoted to the basic principles underlying the assessment of banking indicators and assignation of international rating to a bank by the rating agency Standard&Poors. The author provides a detailed study of the analysis methods for capital adequacy, liquidity, assets’ quality, internal control mechanisms, bank’s operations at the stock market, and other market characteristics necessary to assign an international rating to a bank. Sections devoted to the research of country risks as well as non-quantitative factors able to influence the increase of the banking rating are of particular interest. When getting the article ready, the author actively used original scientific studies and publications in English.
