Russian stock market crisis: fundamental prerequisites and effects

It is now over a year that the whole world lives in the circumstances of economic recession caused by widely known problems on the world financial markets, above all on the largest of them – the financial market of the USA. The Russian stock market was the first to respond to the crisis phenomena on the world financial markets. In May – June 2008 a turning point in the buoyancy of the Russian stock market, which was observed for the previous three years, took place, and in the fall of 2008 a sudden drop of its main indices occurred.
     The article considers the fundamental prerequisites and certain effects of the Russian stock market crisis on the domestic economy.
