Importance It is indispensable to build a socially responsible model for managing microeconomic systems without enforcing the right to decent work and its adequate pay. Appropriate and adequate pay becomes one of the key criterion for social responsibility of business.
Objectives The research examines adequate remuneration in terms of social responsibility of business.
Methods The methodological framework comprises a dialectical method, historical and logic unity, methods of structural and functional analysis, conventional techniques for economic analysis and synthesis. I also applied specific methods to evaluate adequacy of remuneration.
Results Having analyzed the existing approaches to the concept of decent work and its definition, I found out that the concept had complex and multifaceted nature. It allowed identifying its salience. I reviewed trends in social tension indicators (Gini coefficient, decile coefficient) and found that excessive differentiation in people's income impeded the development of socially responsible business. The article proposes an algorithm for governmental objectives in setting up ranges of social standards.
Conclusions and Relevance As the research shows, the contemporary level of factual remuneration and pay fails to disaccord with the concept of adequate remuneration, without ensuring the affordability of benefits, which are needed for reproduction purposes. Adequate income of employable population should become a nucleus of decent work as a key criterion of socially responsible business. The findings can be used to develop socio-economic development programs and strategies at the macro- and mesolevel, the sustainable development concept, and social security doctrine.

Keywords: adequate remuneration, decent work, social responsibility, income differentiation
