Importance In connection with the crisis in the global economy and the imposition of economic sanctions against Russia by the developed Western countries, the import-substitution model of the Russian economy modernization has become especially relevant. One of the most important areas of the economy at the local level (especially in 22 Russian republics, i.e., approximately a quarter of the total number of subjects of the Russian Federation) is the resumption and development of traditional crafts and trades, which since time immemorial have been pursued by the titular Nations and nationalities.
Objectives The aim of the work is the determination of regional factors and characteristics of the implementation of the restructuring, technical upgrading and modernization (especially import-substitution model of modernization) of the Russian economy on the basis of the analysis and study of the positive foreign and domestic experience of innovative development of the reproductive systems.
Methods I used the methods of comparative statistical analysis, strategic analysis and observations.
Results The results indicate that regional and sectoral characteristics are very important in the implementation of modernization. For example, one of the most important forms of modernization of the republics will be the revival of folk crafts, once developed by the titular ethnic groups of these republics, which will also contribute to the process of import substitution.
Conclusions and Relevance The process of modernization of the economy in addition to the technological aspect also includes ethnic, social, environmental, ethical, aesthetic and other aspects. The development of crafts in the titular Nations of the republics within Russia will facilitate the implementation of an effective economic policy of import substitution in the country as a whole and its individual regions, as well as the development of import-substitution model of modernization of the economy as a whole.
