In the article a number of the major indicators of functioning and development of the housing sphere of the Penza region is analyzed, the assessment of efficiency of the main state programs directed on the solution of housing problems of the population is given. The comparative analysis of volumes of construction of housing in the Penza region and in other regions of the Volga federal district is carried out.
