In the article the state of domestic engineering industry which defines possibilities of economic development and country position in the global market is analyzed. For improvement of affairs in the Russian mechanical engineering the large integrated structures under the state are formed. The author considers starting conditions and principles of formation of such new growths as the state industrial corporations.
