Subject. This article analyzes the competitiveness of Russian products and the possibilities and opportunities to increase exports.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the challenges and problems associated with import substitution, considering the enterprises of the Ural Federal District as a case study.
Methods. For the study, we used the methods of statistical, systems, and comparative analyses.
Results. The article highlights the export surplus for the period from 2020 to 2021 and structural disparities in the field of exports and imports.
Conclusions. There is a need to curtail the dependence of production on imported parts and components, as well as to build up business and enterprises in Russia that can implement a complete production cycle.
