Subject Achievements in human development, its capacity and needs are the most important component of socio-economic progress. That is why human development is relevant throughout the world, including Russia.
Objectives The paper aims to make an integrated assessment of the level of human development of Russia as a priority of socio-economic development.
Methods The article analyses the structure and dynamics of Human Development Index (HDI) of Russia for 2000-2013. Using the method of extrapolating, we anticipate the Human Development Index trend for the period up to 2020. A multiple regression analysis helps identify factors that have an impact on human development. Based on cluster analysis methods, we determined the place of Russia among the largest Asian-Pacific and EU countries by level of human development.
Results We attempted to comprehend the human development category as the main wealth of the country from three positions: longevity, education and welfare. The study allocates countries similar to levels of human development. The factors influencing the level of human development formed the selection criterion for homogeneous groups.
Relevance The results of this research may be useful to authorities in formulating the concept of long-term socio-economic development of the Russian Federation and its subjects.
