Importance This article discusses the growth in earlier disparities of the global economy during the global financial and economic crisis, as well as the recent emergence of new threats and risks to the Russian economy. Objectives The research aims at articulating proposals to form strategic mechanisms for the implementation of national economic interests of Russia, taking into account system malfunction of the global economic governance mechanisms and developed countries’ attempts to solve their economic problems to the detriment of the Russian interests through manipulations in the commodity and financial markets. Methods The researchers determine a need and ways to consolidate opportunities and capabilities of Russia and allies (within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, BRICS, SCO, CIS, etc.) for the regional monetary and financial cooperation, and when implementing major economic projects. The researchers propose a set of symmetric measures Russia should undertake to secure a place in the global information space reflecting the real situation and to complete a chain of the political investment cycle. Results The researchers investigate the governance cycles of the formation of global markets. The article describes the practice of various countries applying economic and noneconomic measures to force competitors out of the market when the market environment offers few opportunities for business development. The article substantiates the need to reach the quality of governance so that Russia could preserve the general amount of added value built in Russia. Conclusions and Relevance The article formulates mechanisms for running a pool of political, economic and other factors that determine the competitive ability of the country in the global community. The mechanisms may be applied to improve strategies of legislative and executive bodies of Russia, and in European alliances including Russia.
