In the article the exceptional strategic importance of the results of basic research and the need for their practical use to improve the quality of military security of the state are presented. Modern challenges dictate the need for accelerated development of certain specific areas of scientific research and technological development. To respond to these challenges, Russia must radically better integrate into the global innovation system, to overcome the continuing isolation.
