Institutional models of evolution of modern economic system are analyzed, terminology specification is carried out. Knowledge economy is presented as the newest stage of institutional evolution of capitalism, historically replacing information economy and capable in the long term to become a basis of cognitive reindustrialization of the postindustrial countries. Institutional problems and prospects of formation of knowledge economy in Russia are considered.
