In the article the analysis of the reasons and condition of military preparations of the leading countries of the world is given, the role of military power in the solution of many geopolitical and economic problems is investigated, the methodology of an assessment of defense capability and military safety of Russia, and also efficiency of reform of its armed forces is offered.
