The article is devoted to direct public financing of small business in the north of the Russian Federation. The research is conducted on materials of the northern region - the Murmansk region. The principles and methods of financial support of small business, the modern situation with public financing of small business in the north of the Russian Federation are analyzed. Weaknesses of the system are defined; the recommendations on improvement of the state support of small business are made.
