The article is devoted to modern economic situation in the Arctic and the issues of protection of national interests. Some modern strategic calls in development of the Arctic spaces are shown and it is proved that the most important factor of strengthening of the international position of Russia in this region is strengthening of its economic presence. Attempt of an assessment of level of such presence on indicators of economic safety is offered.
