This article examines Russia’s socio-economic, political, military-strategic and ecological interests. It is emphasized that these interests are of long-standing rather than conjuncture nature and they need a constant attention of both the state and the whole society. They should be regularly updated and provided with an adequate normative-legal basis. The authors draw a conclusion that international cooperation rather than confrontation is the preferable option for the region.

Keywords: Russia’s national interests, Arctic, international cooperation
