In the article the essence of investment appeal of regional economy is investigated and approaches to its definition are analyzed. The assessment of investment climate on the example of regions of Siberian federal district is carried out. Advantages and shortcomings of existing techniques of an assessment, a problem of their application are revealed and recommendations on effective assessment of investment activity in the regions of Russia are offered.
